Hyperliquid Fee Calculator

Estimate maker or taker fees for a Hyperliquid perpetual or spot trade. Add your fee tier, staking level or referral status only when they apply.

Rates last verified 17 Oct 2026 against Hyperliquid's official fee documentation.

Your trade

Start with the trade itself. Fee tiers and discounts are optional.

The full position value, not your margin. $1,000 of margin at 10× leverage is $10,000 notional.

Assumptions: Perpetual market; tier 0 ($5M or less 14-day volume); no staking discount; taker 0.045% before the referral discount; exit at the same notional as the entry.

Not included: funding, spread, slippage, liquidation losses and transfer costs.

  1. Fee rate. Volume-tier rate × (1 − staking discount). A maker rebate tier replaces the maker rate.Taker: 0.045% × (1 − 0%) = 0.045%
  2. Trading fee = notional × fee rate.Entry: $10,000 × 0.045% = $4.50Exit: $10,000 × 0.045% = $4.50
  3. Effective rate = total fee ÷ total traded volume.$9.00 ÷ $20,000 = 0.045%

Three inputs that matter most

Use the full position value, choose maker or taker execution, and decide whether you want an entry-only or round-trip estimate. Expand advanced settings only if your account has a different fee tier, staking discount or active referral discount.

Worked examples

Both examples use tier 0 perpetual rates and an active 4% referral discount.

$10,000 perpetual taker entry

Tier 0, no staking. A market order pays the taker rate.

Entry (taker): $10,000 × 0.045% = $4.50 × 0.96 = $4.32

Before
$4.50
After
$4.32
Saving
$0.18

$10M round trip near the referral cap

Maker entry, taker exit, tier 0. The account has already traded $20M, so only $5M of the $25M discount cap remains, and the entry uses it up.

Entry (maker): $10,000,000 × 0.015% = $1,500.00; $5,000,000 at 0.0144% + $5,000,000 at 0.015% = $1,470.00

Exit (taker): $10,000,000 × 0.045% = $4,500.00; cap used, no discount

Before
$6,000.00
After
$5,970.00
Saving
$30.00

How Hyperliquid trading fees work

Your tier is set by rolling 14-day weighted volume, where spot volume counts double, and updates daily. Perpetuals, HIP-3 perps and spot share one tier per account.

HYPE staking cuts the tier rate by 5% to 40%. Accounts with more than 0.5% of total maker volume earn a maker rebate instead of paying a maker fee. HIP-3 markets and spot pairs between stablecoins or aligned quote assets use different multipliers, so enter those as a custom rate. For the full breakdown, read Hyperliquid fees explained.

Frequently asked questions

How are Hyperliquid fees calculated?

Each fill is charged its notional value multiplied by your fee rate. The rate depends on the market, whether the order is maker or taker, your 14-day volume tier and any HYPE staking discount. A round trip adds the entry and exit fees, which can use different rates.

Do HYPE staking and referral discounts stack?

Staking discounts reduce the tier rate first: Diamond staking turns the 0.045% perpetual taker rate into 0.027%. Hyperliquid's developer fee formula then applies the referral discount to the account's rate, which this calculator models as 0.02592%. If your account shows a different rate, enter it as a custom rate.

What costs are excluded from the calculator?

It calculates trading fees only. Funding payments, the bid–ask spread, slippage, liquidation losses and bridge, deposit or withdrawal costs are excluded, and together they can cost more than the fee itself.

Why can the actual Hyperliquid fee differ?

Your fee tier updates daily from rolling 14-day volume, so it can change between trades. HIP-3 markets, spot pairs between two stablecoins and pairs using aligned quote assets use different multipliers. Check the rate shown in the Hyperliquid app and enter it as a custom rate if it differs.
